Awakening Through the Path of Love

Awakening your heart is an invitation to the spiritual path of love, known as bhakti yoga in India. Bhakti yoga is the path of falling in love with our true nature, divine consciousness, which is within us and hidden all around us.

We can look around and see how worldly love, of all kinds, motivates us. Falling in love with a person or an experience is one of the most powerful and rewarding experiences of being human. According to bhakti yoga, the worldly love that we seek is, a representation of the unlimited divine love that awaits us.

We long to be understood and loved completely. Through bhakti yoga, we find fulfilment of divine love (or prema) through the relationship with the divine, connecting us to the mentor, friend, parent, child, or partner of our dreams. Allowing love-seeking to be a continuous spiritual process awakens in us and around us a love bigger that we can imagine.

For centuries in India, bhakti yoga has provided the bridge between worldly and divine love. Through longing for and contemplating this divine love, we become more and more connected to the sacred. As love naturally grows, so does our practice, and our life transforms.

Bhakti can hold all that you wish for and are heartbroken about in the world. Just as we could envision the universal mother willingly opening her arms to every possible experience and feeling, this openness and compassion are within you to receive and give to the world.

The path of love isn’t dependent on a particular faith, though it’s found in perhaps them all. It’s a direct relationship with your own true divine nature, found by awakening your heart. When we meet great teachers, teachings, and traditions, they reflect back to us the great potential for this love, opening up our path.
